Do not underestimate the Force.
I just thought of something which I wanted to post up here. One of the interesting things about the Force in Star Wars, is that really what it boils down to is the human soul. Imagine the intricacies of the human soul; love, hate, hurt, desire. The Force takes those things, and asks the question, “What if we had absolute power to act on those things? What if I had the power to bend someone to my will with a simple wave of my hand? What if I had the power to keep a mortally wounded friend alive purely by the force of my will? What if I had the power to break those who hurt me? Who opposed me? To reach out with my mind and crush away their life? It’s a question of the soul, but imagines “what if we had the power…” I thank God we don’t have that power. We would be gods, and therefore, would be demons.

shawn, this is INCREDIBLE insight. you know why i keep wanting to hang around you? because every time i do i learn something even more beautiful about myself, about you, and about this world in which we live. thank you for that! i am glad you have an overactive mind that keeps going and going...and i'm so glad that matters of faith are on the forefront of your mind. i praise God for your friendship!
I think that is why God created us with free will and the inability to control the souls of others. An unfortunate outcome of free will is all things that happen in the world that we deem to be evil. When we think of it on a shallow level, we think, how could God be so stupid as to let evil into the world. Why does he let evil exist in the world. He is God, cannot He just make it go away. But the more we meditate on why it is how it is, we can come to the conclusion that without free will and the inability to control someone else's soul, sure there would be no evil, but we would not get to experience good to the extent that we do. What good would it be for us to Love God and one another if we had no choice in doing so. It is when Love is given freely that we can really appreciate God's genius in giving us free will. It means so much more when someone chooses to Love us or chooses do good in this wonderful world of ours that God has given us.
